While Xenical can be effective for losing weight successfully it is important to understand the possible side effects. Although most side effects are low to moderate being aware is important for your health safety.

Before deciding to take Xenical you should first consult your doctor. If you have health conditions such as kidney stones, gall bladder problems, diabetes and the like Xenical might not be the best option for weight loss.  However, you may have some options but you should seek treatment from your doctor first.

While the side effects of Xenical are low to moderate you should be aware of what they are. Below we have some of the most common side effects. If you experience any of them you should stop taking Xenical and contact your doctor immediately.

Rare Allergic Reactions to Xenical:

* Shortness of breath

* Constricting of your throat

* Lips, tongue or facial swelling

* Appearance of hives

Drug Interactions:

If you are taking Cyclosporine or Warfarin you should not take Xenical. There may be other medications you should not take when taking Xenical that aren’t listed here, talk with your doctor to be sure. This is not limited to prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs, herbal supplements and vitamins should also be considered.

Common Xenical Side Effects:

* Oily spotting

* Fatty or oily stools

* Stool discoloration

* Gas with an oily discharge

* Urgent and uncontrollable urge to go to the bathroom without much notice

* Inability to control bowel movements

* Increased bowel movements

Most of the bowel changes listed is natural effects of blocking fat and that the Xenical is working. However, they can be bothersome to get used to as they can be unpredictable. Generally they occur early on in treatment, especially if you eat meals with high amounts of fat. Usually, these symptoms are temporary and lessen and most times disappear.
